Custom Mobile Apps Built Around Your Business

Your customers live on their phones. Give them an app that talks to the website and systems you already run — built once, shipped to both stores, owned entirely by you.

A Mobile Site Isn't a Mobile App

Both live on a phone. Only one sits on the home screen, works offline, and can tap someone on the shoulder. See what a build costs →

Push notifications

Reach customers directly instead of hoping they open an email. Order updates, reminders, and offers land on the lock screen.

Works without signal

Apps cache data locally, so staff in a warehouse or customers on a train can keep working and sync when they reconnect.

Device features

Camera, GPS, biometric login, barcode scanning, Apple Pay and Google Pay — things a browser tab simply can't reach.

A place on the home screen

An icon on someone's phone is real estate you don't rent from Google. No algorithm sits between you and your customer.

When you probably don't need an app

If people visit you once or twice a year, an app is unlikely to earn its cost — a faster mobile site will serve you better. Apps pay off when usage is repeat: bookings, orders, memberships, internal team tools. I'll tell you honestly which camp you're in on the first call, even if the answer costs me the project.

One Codebase, Both Stores

Instead of paying twice for two native apps, your app is built once and compiled for iOS and Android — typically around 40% cheaper, and both versions stay in sync forever.

JavaScript

Best when your app shares logic with an existing web product, or needs a wide range of ready-made native modules.

  • Shares code and developers with React web apps
  • Huge ecosystem of tested native libraries
  • Over-the-air updates without a store review
  • Backed by Meta, used by Instagram and Shopify
Dart

Best when the design is heavily custom or animation-led and you want it pixel-identical on every device.

  • Renders its own UI, so no platform inconsistencies
  • Excellent performance for animation-heavy screens
  • Single codebase can extend to web and desktop
  • Backed by Google, used by Google Pay and BMW

I don't have a favourite I push on every project. Tell me what the app has to do and I'll recommend the one that fits — and explain why in plain terms, not jargon.

What I've Shipped

Client names and screenshots are covered by NDAs, so here's what the projects involved and what they achieved.

Field services

Job management app for engineers

The problem: Engineers were phoning the office for job details and filing paper reports at the end of each week, so invoicing lagged days behind the work.

What was built: A cross-platform app pulling jobs from the existing scheduling system, with offline access for sites without signal, photo capture, and on-site customer signature.

  • Reports filed same-day instead of weekly
  • Invoicing cycle cut from 6 days to 1
  • Works fully offline, syncs on reconnect
React Native Offline sync REST API
Retail / eCommerce

Companion app for a WooCommerce store

The problem: Repeat customers were reordering the same products every month through a slow mobile checkout, and abandoning carts halfway.

What was built: An app reading the same WooCommerce catalogue the team already manages, with saved payment details, one-tap reorder, and push notifications for restocks.

  • Reorders down to two taps
  • No second catalogue to maintain
  • Push notifications replaced restock emails
Flutter WooCommerce API Push notifications
Health & wellness

Booking and content app for a clinic

The problem: Clients booked sessions through a website form and then lost track of appointments, driving a steady stream of no-shows and rescheduling calls.

What was built: An app connected to the clinic's existing WordPress booking system, with appointment reminders, session history, and access to member-only content.

  • Automated reminders cut no-shows
  • Reception freed from rescheduling calls
  • Same WordPress backend, no retraining
React Native WordPress REST API Calendar sync

Happy to walk through any of these in more detail on a call, within what the NDAs allow.

From Idea to App Store

Five stages, with something you can actually hold at the end of each. No black box, no monthly invoice for progress you can't see.

Step 01 Free

Scoping Call

We work out what the app must do, who uses it, and what it connects to. You leave with a written scope and a fixed price — at no cost, and with no obligation.

Step 02 1–2 Weeks

Design & Prototype

You get a clickable prototype of every screen before a line of app code is written. Changing a screen here costs minutes; changing it after build costs days.

Step 03 3–8 Weeks

Build & Weekly Demos

The app gets built in weekly increments, and every Friday you get a working build on your own phone. You watch it come together instead of waiting for a reveal.

Step 04 1 Week

Testing & Store Prep

Real-device testing across screen sizes and OS versions, then store listings, screenshots, privacy declarations and icons prepared and submitted for review.

Step 05 60 Days Support

Launch & Handover

The app goes live under your developer accounts. You receive the full source repository and 60 days of free bug fixing, plus an optional retainer if you want ongoing work.

What an App Actually Costs

App scope varies enormously, so these are honest starting points rather than menu prices. After the scoping call you get one fixed number that doesn't move unless you change the scope.

Discuss Your Build
Fixed price, not an estimate You approve one number before work starts. If I underestimate, that's my problem, not your invoice.
You own everything Full source code, your developer accounts, your store listings. No license fees, no lock-in to me.
Paid in stages Split across project milestones rather than all upfront, so risk sits on both sides of the table.

Mobile App Development Questions

The things people ask before committing to a build.

How much does it cost to build a custom mobile app?

A focused first version starts from $1,200, and a full app with accounts and backend integration starts from $3,500. Because app scope varies so much, these are starting points rather than fixed menu prices. After a short scoping call you get a fixed quote, and the price doesn't change unless you change the scope.

How long does it take to build a mobile app?

A small MVP typically takes 3 to 5 weeks from kickoff to store submission. A full app with accounts, a backend and push notifications usually takes 8 to 12 weeks. Store review adds a few days on top, which is outside anyone's control.

Do you build for both iOS and Android?

Yes, and from a single codebase. Using React Native or Flutter means one build serves both platforms, which typically costs around 40% less than commissioning two separate native apps and keeps both versions in sync as you add features.

Should I use React Native or Flutter?

React Native suits apps that share logic with an existing JavaScript or React web app, or that lean on a large ecosystem of native modules. Flutter suits apps with heavily custom UI or animation where you want pixel-identical rendering on both platforms. I recommend one after understanding your project rather than defaulting to a favourite.

Can the app connect to my existing WordPress site?

Yes. WordPress ships with a REST API, so your posts, products, users and custom fields can feed the app directly. If you run WooCommerce, the app can read products and place orders against the same store you already manage — no second catalogue to keep in sync.

Who owns the app and the source code?

You do, in full, once the final invoice is paid. You get the complete source repository, the build configuration and the store listings under your own developer accounts. There's no license fee and no lock-in to me as a developer — another developer can pick it up if you ever want them to.

Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?

Yes. That includes store listing copy, screenshots, privacy policy requirements, app icons and the review process itself. Apps are submitted under your own Apple and Google developer accounts so you keep ownership. If a reviewer rejects the build, fixing and resubmitting is included.

What happens after the app launches?

Every build includes 60 days of free bug fixing after launch. Beyond that, apps need periodic maintenance because Apple and Google change their OS and store requirements each year. An optional maintenance retainer covers OS compatibility updates, dependency upgrades and small feature work.
